A team of seven students from the Nanjing University of Finance and Economics in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu province has helped agricultural products in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region gain popularity in the market through their creative packaging designs.
Established two years ago by Guan Jing, a teacher at the School of Art and Design of the university, the team is dedicated to boosting the development of Xinjiang's agriculture and husbandry sectors.
Agricultural products from the region in Northwest China are natural and of high quality, but have not been widely received by consumers due to their rudimentary packaging, said Xu Bang, deputy director of the school.
To address this issue, the team designed packaging for agricultural products from Ili, an autonomous prefecture inhabited by the Kazak. Among the creations is a predominantly red and black packaging for honey that has increased product sales by about 50 percent compared to the same period last year, said Liu Huan, the director of an agricultural company in Ili.
