The largest single-scale refining and chemical integration project in China was put into operation Monday in Lianyungang city, Jiangsu province. Let’s take a close look.
The Shenghong refining and chemical integration project, a key project in the national petrochemical industry planning and layout, was put into operation in Lianyungang, marking the official commissioning of the single largest refining and chemical integration project in China, which will reduce China's imports of basic chemical raw materials by about 10%.
The Shenghong refining and chemical integration project, with a total investment of 67.7 billion yuan, can process 16 million tons of crude oil every year.
More than 90% of the equipment is domestically produced, which has refreshed many records such as the largest diameter column, the heaviest single fixed bed reactor, the largest atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit and cracking furnace of the same type in China.

Using international leading technology, the project builds a high-end petrochemical industry chain and makes full use of crude oil. In terms of the proportion of aromatics, olefins and other chemical products in short supply in China, the project has achieved a substantial leap from about 50% to more than 70%.
