East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major investment projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to fulfill goals for social and economic development set forth in this year’s government work report. JSBC has the story.

Construction on Zhangjiagang-Jingjiang-Rugao Yangtze River Bridge got underway on Tuesday. The world's largest span suspension bridge is located about 28 kilometers downstream of Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge and about 16 kilometers upstream of Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Bridge.

Connecting Suzhou, Taizhou and Nantong, the bridge is about 30 kilometers long with a total length of 7,859 meters, making it the world’s longest super-span suspension bridge with a main span of 2,300 meters.

Upon its completion in six years, the bridge will become a key implementation project of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and comprehensive three-dimensional transportation corridor in Jiangsu Province, making it of great significance to the promotion of the integrated development across the Yangtze River.

After nearly 7 hours of continuous efforts by more than 500 workers, the signal interlocking project for the introduction of the South Yangtze River Intercity Railway into Nanjing South Station was completed.
