A groundbreaking ceremony was held to kick off the construction of the Taizhou section of the Nanjing-Yancheng expressway project Wednesday.
The 126.6-kilometer Nanjing-Yancheng Expressway passes through Luhe District of Nanjing, Yizheng District of Yangzhou, Gaoyou City and Xinghua City.
The highway will be designed as two-way six-lane, with a speed of 120 kilometers per hour. The 30.15-billion-yuan project will be completed in four years.

The Nanjing-Yancheng Expressway will reduce the travel time between the two places to about 2 hours, further improve the layout of the expressway network in central Jiangsu, and promote the integration of the Yangtze River Delta and the development of the Nanjing metropolitan area.
