Jiangsu accelerates development of IoV and ICV

East China’s Jiangsu province has recently issued guidelines to accelerate the high-quality development of the Internet of Vehicles and Intelligent Connected Vehicles in a bid to seize new opportunities in the automotive industry. 

With the penetration and application of basic technologies including artificial intelligence and big data, the Internet of Vehicles and Intelligent Connected Vehicles have become the strategic direction for the development of the global auto industry.

According to the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, Jiangsu has covered 1,084 intersections with vehicle-road coordination equipment and launched 567 industrial chain enterprises.

Jiangsu leads the country in the development of autonomous driving software algorithms and Internet of Vehicles facilities and equipment industries.

"This year,we plan to select more than 20 projects,aiming at the field of driverless shuttle cars,driverless taxis,and the application of big data of the Internet of Vehicles for early warning of weather conditions so as to realize the application from the closed park in the past,to the semi-open, open road application to further improve the efficiency and safety of travel."said Zou Haipeng, Member of the compilation team of "Guiding Opinions on Accelerating the High-quality Development of the IoVs and ICVs

Jiangsu will guide the qualified areas to build a vehicle-road collaborative perception network and a cloud control platform for the Internet of Vehicles, support enterprises and scientific research institutes to focus on high-performance vehicle chips and key areas of intelligent networked auto parts, and strive to overcome shortcomings in industrial development.

By 2025, Jiangsu will build an industrial chain and innovation chain of the Internet of Vehicles and ICVs that takes the lead in the country, implement a number of vehicle-road collaborative application services and typical scenarios of autonomous driving, and ensure that the Internet of Vehicles infrastructure achieves cross-regional scale coverage.
