East China’s Jiangsu province has issued its rules for awarding patent awards, according to a press conference held by the provincial government on Wednesday morning.
According to the "Jiangsu Patent Award Appraisal Rules", Jiangsu has carried out detailed implementation of the evaluation organization, award scope, and award standards in accordance with the national patent award setting.
The "Jiangsu Patent Inventor Award" has been adjusted to "Jiangsu Patent Award". No more than 10, 20 and 50 gold, silver and excellence awards shall be granted in each session, and no more than 10 inventor awards shall be awarded.
The awarding method has also increased the incentives by giving 300,000 yuan, 200,000 yuan and 100,000 yuan to each gold award, silver award, and excellence award respectively, and 20,000 yuan per person for the Jiangsu Patent Inventor Award.
Zhi Suping, Director of Jiangsu Intellectual Property Office, said "The award evaluation method focuses on giving full play to the incentive effect of the patent award system on innovation and development. The organization of evaluation will be more standardized, the award setting will be more reasonable, the selection process will be more rigorous and the incentive measures will be more perfect, hoping to better lead the high-quality creation, high-level protection and efficient use of intellectual property rights."
Jiangsu is one of the earliest provinces in the country to implement the patent award system. Up to now, the number of invention patents per 10,000 people in Jiangsu has been ranked first in the country for 6 consecutive years. Jiangsu has won 768 awards in previous China Patent Awards, ranking foremost in the country.
