Wu Zhenglong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, went on an inspection tour to the Jiangsu Electric Power Company of the State Grid to make requirements on power supply during the sizzling heat wave. At 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Jiangsu Power Grid recorded the highest electricity load of 126 million kilowatts, setting a record high.
On behalf of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, Wu Zhenglong expressed his heartfelt thanks to the State Grid Corporation of China and State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company for their important contributions to the economic and social development of the province. He also conveyed his sincere greetings to the officials and workers of the power system who have been committed to their work during the sizzling temperatures.
He hoped that the Jiangsu Electric Power Company of the State Grid would follow General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on energy security and the Party Central Committee's decision-making and deployment on power supply, establish a people-centered development philosophy, strengthen the overall scheduling of supply and demand, give priority to electricity consumption for people's livelihood, and ensure stable order of people's production and life, promote high-quality development and empower high-quality life with high-quality power supply so as to take practical actions to welcome the convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
Wu Zhenglong pointed out that this year will witness the convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, making it a matter of great responsibility and significance to ensure power supply.
Jiangsu has reported rapid growth in electricity use, in particular the industrial use of electricity, due to the recent spell of high temperature that has caused the province’s electricity load to continue to run at a high level, reflecting the accelerated recovery of the economy and bringing a major test to the supply of electricity in summer.
The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee requested the State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company to formulate careful power supply organization and scheduling to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid, strengthen power supply with more scientific and precise measures, and create a stable and orderly production and living environment for the people.
He asked the State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company to keep an eye on weather changes and electricity demand, cooperate with competent government departments and power plants, strengthen the organization of power supply, strengthen the operation management of power generating units, ensure maximum power generation and power supply during peak hours, give full play to the role of Baihetan-Jiangsu UHV transmission line, and make overall use of wind power, photovoltaic and nuclear power.
Wu Zhenglong asked the Jiangsu Electric Power Company of the State Grid to uphold bottom-line thinking, formulate detailed emergency response plans for possible extreme weather emergencies, strengthen the maintenance and control of important transmission channels and various power supply equipment, eliminate hidden troubles, and strengthen the information system security of the power network and go all out to ensure the safe operation of the power grid.
At the Dispatching Control Center of the State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company, Wu Zhenglong inspected the trend of power grid load, the trend of power grids in south Jiangsu and north Jiangsu, and the electricity consumption in various prefecture-level cities.
He hoped that State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company will focus on long-term goals to carry out systematic planning, accelerate the construction of major power grid infrastructure, continuously optimize energy distribution, vigorously promote energy conservation and power saving, advocate a simple, moderate, green and low-carbon lifestyle, and prioritize the path of ecological and green development.
