East China’s Jiangsu province reported harvest of various summer fruits, thanks to the adjustment of agricultural cultivation structures in recent years for the purpose of enriching the farmers’ income.
In the morning, the workers in the peach orchards in Yandu District, Yancheng City were busy selecting and picking peaches before sorting and packing them for shipment.
This year's "Golden Peach" planted in the orchard is large in size and good in appearance, making them very popular.
"There is a relatively large demand for peaches in the market with sales of about 300 boxes per day and sales of 5,000 yuan per mu," said a fruit farmer in Yancheng.
The green pears in Houbai Town, Jurong County are ripe and ready to be picked.
According to Dou Yongmin, a fruit farmer, this variety is of early maturity and good taste with sweet, crisp and juicy features.
"At present, I have received many orders. It is estimated that my 50-acre pear orchard will sell for 600 to 700,000 yuan this year. This year is another bumper year," said Dou Yongmin, a fruit farmer in Jurong.
The bumper harvest is inseparable from scientific management training. The fruit growers used new varieties of fruit seedlings developed by scientific research institutes in the selection of seedlings.
Organic fertilizers are applied in the orchards, and the orchard grass cultivation and green pest control technology are adopted to ensure that the fruits are green and pollution-free from the source.
Fruit farmers ensure automatic monitoring and management of temperature, humidity and fertility, making melons and fruits sweeter, better quality and better marketable.
