The Huangdai Pingtan Museum officially opened to the public yesterday, which offers free admission. Legend of Chunshen Jun, a pingtan performance, debuted on the same day. An online version of the museum has also been rolled out.
Located in Suzhou Pingtan Park, the museum covers an area of about 600 square meters. There are nine theme chaptersto display the Jiangnan culture, the origin of pingtan, the catalogue of pingtan, famous pingtan performers, the development of pingtan in Huangdai, etc. Integrating modern multimedia technologies, it creates a brand new audio-visual experience for visitors.
The museum houses more than 630 objects covering such eight categories as manuscript, publication, magazine and journal, record and tape, costume and prop, certificate and medal, film and photo, and poster.
