The 20th Jiangsu Provincial Games opened in Taizhou Sunday evening. Wu Zhenglong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, attended the opening ceremony and announced the opening of the Games. Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor Xu Kunlin delivered the opening speech. Zhang Yizhen, Chairwoman of the Provincial Political Consultative Conference, attended the opening ceremony.
Amid the cheers of the audience, the opening ceremony of the 20th Provincial Games started at 8:00 pm on Sunday.
The flag guards of the three teams walked into the scene holding the national flag of the People's Republic of China, the flag of the Jiangsu Provincial Games and the flag of the 20th Provincial Games.
The audience stood up and sang "The National Anthem of the People's Republic of China". Amidst the majestic national anthem, the bright five-star red flag rose slowly and fluttered in the wind.
On behalf of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, Xu Kunlin extended warm congratulations to the opening of the 20th Provincial Games. He said that in recent years, the provincial party committee and the provincial government have conscientiously implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on sports work, and continuously accelerated the pace of building a sports powerhouse in the new era so that sports are increasingly becoming a new trend leading the people's high-quality life.
He hoped that the athletes and coaches would carry forward the Olympic spirit and the Chinese sports spirit, work hard and climb the peak, and achieve both sports results and spiritual civilization with superb sports skills and high spirits.
The Governor hoped that the whole province will take the opportunity of the Provincial Games to forge ahead, strive for the first place, and take practical actions to welcome the convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
Zhu Lifan, secretary of the Taizhou Municipal Party Committee, delivered a welcome speech. On behalf of the Taizhou Municipal Party Committee, the municipal government and the people of Taizhou, he extended a warm welcome to the athletes and guests participating in the Games.
At 8:32, Wu Zhenglong announced the opening of the 20th Jiangsu Provincial Games.
Along with the melody of the 20th Provincial Games anthem, the flags of the Jiangsu Provincial Games and the 20th Provincial Games were raised slowly.
Athlete Luan Yuhao, coach Zhang Feng, and referee Zhang Jinli took the oath on behalf of all participating athletes, coaches and referees.
A theatrical performance was held after the opening ceremony.
