A new intelligent platform has been put into use in Nanjing’s water traffic law enforcement to improve the efficiency of law enforcement and make the navigation of ships safer, the city’s transport administration said on Tuesday.
With the help of the new intelligent management platform for water traffic, law enforcement officers can master the real-time conditions of all ships in the Nanjing section of the Yangtze River and the Nanjing inland section, thereby realizing dynamic supervision and safety reminders.
On the monitoring screen of the Nanjing Inland Water Search and Rescue Center, all ships sailing in the Nanjing inland water section are displayed in the form of red dots.
Law enforcement officers can click on the red dot to learn the name, type, crew information and contact information of the ship, and they can also retrieve the historical voyage track of the ship.

In the waters around the bridge, when there are a lot of ships, we can notify the ships to leave as soon as possible through high-frequency calls. For example, when there are hydraulic workers working on construction, we can send messages to the ships through the system to remind them to pay attention to safety.
The transportation department has set up 1 set of electronic bayonet, 2 sets of remote sensing monitoring systems for ship exhaust, and 93 high-definition video monitoring points in Nanjing inland waterways and key waters.
The real-time data collected by these points and the real-time data from the 390-channel high-definition video surveillance of port-based enterprises have been connected to the intelligent management platform. Law enforcement officers can conduct electronic cruises and off-site law enforcement and evidence collection on inland waterways and wharf vessels at any time.

For example, Confucius Temple and Xuanwu Lake, the key water sightseeing area, and some water construction operation areas, or the Wushen Canal and the densely navigable area of ships, we use electronic fences to delineate it into the electronic cruise area. Once a problem is found, law enforcement officers will deal with it immediately.
With the help of electronic cruise and drone cruise, law enforcement officers can complete the inspection of dozens of kilometers of waterways in more than ten minutes, greatly improving the efficiency of law enforcement.
