Construction of the Jiangsu section of the North Yangtze River high-speed rail went underway Wednesday morning.
Wu Zhenglong, secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Party of China, announced the start of construction of the Jiangsu section of the North Yangtze River High-speed Railway. Xu Kunlin, Governor of Jiangsu Province, and Wang Tongjun, Deputy General Manager of State Railway Group, delivered speeches.
Wu Zhenglong, Xu Kunlin, and Wang Tongjun inspected Jiangsu's "14th Five-Year Plan" and the medium and long-term railway layout plan, the Jiangsu section of the North Yangtze River high-speed railway line, and the general layout of the Nanjing railway hub.
The North Yangtze River High-speed Railway is the main passage of the Yangtze River High-speed Railway in the national medium and long-term railway network planning of "eight verticals and eight horizontals".
Connecting Shanghai, Jiangsu and Anhui, the high-speed railway has a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, and 11 stations will be built in the 365-kilometer Jiangsu section.
People in Yangzhou and Taizhou can take high-speed trains to Shanghai and Nanjing more quickly. Passengers from Sichuan, Chongqing, Hubei, Anhui and Jiangsu can take high-speed trains directly to Shanghai, central and western regions and east China.
On behalf of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, Xu Kunlin expressed his heartfelt thanks to the National Railway Group and people from all walks of life who have been concerned about Jiangsu's economic and social development for many years.
The governor said transportation infrastructure, especially major railway infrastructure projects, have a large investment volume, many related industries, and strong driving force, which play an important role in increasing effective investment, stabilizing the economic market, and improving people's livelihood and well-being.
He asked all parts of the province to increase the construction of major projects, speed up the construction of a high-level interconnection facility system, and inject new impetus into the high-quality development of the province， adding that the North Yangtze River high-speed railway is of great significance to building a comprehensive three-dimensional transportation corridor in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, improving the transportation capacity and service quality of the corridor, and promoting coordinated regional development.
On behalf of the State Railway Group, Wang Tongjun extended warm congratulations to the start of construction of the Jiangsu section of the North Yangtze High-speed Railway.
He asked all companies involved in the construction to strengthen their mission, fully rely on the local party committee and government, strengthen coordination and organization and implementation, coordinate quality and safety, investment efficiency, ecological protection, and clean government construction, and ensure that construction tasks are completed safely and efficiently on schedule.
The State Railway Group will further increase its support for project promotion and the planning and construction of Jiangsu’s railway construction, continue to improve the layout of the railroad network, improve the operation level, fully release the high-speed railway network and the "four-network integration" effect, better serve the people along the rail lines, and make new contributions to the modernization drive of Jiangsu and the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta.
