China successfully launched two test satellites from a launch platform in the Yellow Sea on Oct 7.
The CentiSpace-S5/S6 test satellites with LEO satellite navigation enhancement system were lifted off by a Long March-11 carrier rocket at 09:10 pm Beijing Time and they have entered the planned orbit successfully.
Dong Xiaobin, Deputy Chief Designer of Long March 11 Rocket
The offshore is very suitable for launch operation compared with the open sea.Our ship can return on the same day, which is different from the time required to sail on the sea for several days in the past,so that our launch cycle has been shortened.
The satellites will be used to monitor the performance of the global navigation satellite system in real time, and carry out navigation augmentation and intersatellite laser communication tests.
Dong Xiaobin, Deputy Chief Designer of Long March 11 Rocket
Since the first successful sea launch,we have conducted four land launches, and four sea launches alternately. The "Long 11" rocket has the ability to design specific launch methods according to the needs of satellites so we have a regular sea launch capability.
