East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major investment projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to greet the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China with practical actions.
At the construction site of the north main tower of the Changzhou-Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge, a steel bar part weighing more than 60 tons and composed of thousands of steel bars was seen stably hoisted by the world's first tailor-made 10,000-ton tower crane before slowly resting on the main tower.
“We will devote ourselves to the construction of Changzhou-Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge with more enthusiasm, and make positive contributions to promoting the integrated development across the river and promoting the construction of a new Jiangsu and a transportation powerhouse.” Li Zhen, Site Commander of Changzhou Taizhou-Yangtze River Bridge Construction Headquarters said.
At the construction site of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou Railway, an average of three box girders are erected every day from Wujiang in Suzhou to Qingpu in Shanghai.
It is estimated that all girder erection work across Yuandang Lake will be completed in late October.
As of September 30, the province had completed 76.8% of the annual investment for railway construction.
According to Wang Chenglong, Manager of girder erection, Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou Project Department of China Railway 14th Bureau, they hope to connect all the sections in Shanghai before the Spring Festival so as to lay a foundation for the next construction of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou Railway.
Suqian started on Saturday the construction on the second phase of Suqian-Lianyungang Waterway and the comprehensive regulation project of Suqian section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal. Expected for completion in the first half of 2024, the Suqian section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal will achieve efficient connectivity with Lianyungang Port to enable ships of ten-thousand-tonnage to directly reach Lianyungang port from the central urban area of Suqian.
Wang Dongying, Deputy Director of Suqian Port and Shipping Development Center, said that the Suqian-Lianyungang Channel could become an important “golden waterway” for material transportation in Jiangsu, Shandong, Anhui and Henan. The cost of bulk materials transported by water can be reduced by more than two thirds compared with that by road.
