Farmers in east China’s Jiangsu province are gearing up for the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in the busy time of celebrating the autumn harvest.
In 2022, Jiangsu popularized the belt-type compound planting of 600,000 mu of soybean and corn for the first time in history.
Farmers were seen adjusting two types of special harvesters for separate harvest of soybean and corn.
With the roar of the machine, golden corn and full soybeans were stored in the warehouse, and the goal of increasing the yield of corn without decreasing the yield of soybean was achieved.
A report on agricultural production progress shows that nearly 70% of corn and 60% of soybean have been harvested across the province.
Yang Anding, a farmer in Liuji Town, Tongshan District, Xuzhou City, said that the total income per mu of land from interplanting corn and soybean reached 1450 yuan.
With the subsidy of 320 yuan provided by the government, compared with the previous situation of only planting corn, interplanting corn and soybean on one mu of land can increase the income by about 600 yuan.
Hu Shuyun, the head of Lianyungang Crop Technical Guidance Station and a researcher of agricultural extension, said that the local people have spoken highly of this planting mode.
Lianyungang will go all out to summarize the harvest and technology of soybean and corn interplanting so as to provide technical support for the promotion of this technical model next year.
In Yangma Town, Sheyang County, the largest chrysanthemum production base in the province, local villagers began to harvest 45000 mu of herbal chrysanthemums.
Taking advantage of the fine weather, the villagers were kept busy in the golden chrysanthemum sea to enjoy the harvest.
Villagers in Qingyang Town of Sihong County have been kept busy picking nearly 2000 mu of sunshine roses since October. Buyers from all over the country could not wait to purchase all the grapes.
In the golden autumn, the land of fish and rice witnesses scenarios of harvest of fragrant melons and fruits, and plump shrimps and crabs.
Xu Jinsheng, secretary of the General Party Branch and director of the village committee of Hedong Village of Sheyang County, said that over the past decade, the village has developed from a typical village with weak economy to a rural village with Jiangsu characteristics through the development of herbal planting and rural tourism.
He believed that after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the villagers will be able to embark on a wider road of rural revitalization.
Chen Guohui, secretary of the General Party Branch of Qingou Village of Sihong County, said that the village has developed an industrial base of about 2000 mu, with an income of 3000 to 5000 yuan per mu.
Qingou Village will explore the agriculture+tourism model, build an ecological grape picking garden, and turn the grape planting base into a wealth-making field for farmers.
