During the 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE), the flagship store for Suzhou-style crafts at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai is a must-go place for expo-goers. Its many highlights include not only more than 2,000 Suzhou-style handicrafts, but also live demonstrations of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) by 7 renowned artists including Su embroidery master Yao Huifen whose artistry of needle and thread never fails to impress.
This year, the flagship store for Suzhou-style crafts in Shanghai has added 125 exquisite handicrafts in eight categories such as folk musical instruments, imperial kiln gold bricks, brick carvings and handmade cheongsams. It also displays cultural and creative products of over 40 Suzhou intangible cultural heritage brands. Statistics show that since its opening in May last year, the store has received more than 200 groups of purchasers and over 40,000 visitors.
A total of 56 enterprises in Suzhou have participated in the 5th China International Import Expo to showcase their latest technology and products, including renowned multinational pharmaceutical companies such as Roche, Johnson & Johnson, and Novartis, as well as industrial giants such as Deloitte and Procter & Gamble.
