A peace prayer was held Monday in Nanjing for the victims of the Nanjing Massacre with peace-wish walls set up at metro stations where people wrote down their memories and expressed their hope for peace.

Starting on Monday, the peace prayers for the victims of the Nanjing Massacre were carried out at three subway stations, including Jiming Temple, Yunjin Road and Gangzi Village, where the passers-by wrote their yearning for peace on the peace wall.

"Weakness leads to humiliation. This truth has never been understood more deeply by people in any country in the world than by the Chinese people. All our struggles are for the rise of China," said Jiang Yuanpeng, a cultural industry practitioner.

"Let's keep the alarm bells ringing because only by not forgetting history can we have a happy future," said Song Zhiwei, Member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association and Vice President of Jiangsu Modern Calligraphy Research Institute.

"Nanjing had experienced many hardships, so I wish Nanjing a better and better future," said Xiang Jiaqi, a tourist from Shaanxi.

Peace is the most lasting long cherished wish of mankind. Peace is as warm as sunshine and as moist as rain and dew.

"I was proud to be a Chinese. Students should study hard from childhood and serve the motherland when we grow up," said Wang Yize, a pupil.

"Don't forget the national humiliation. Peace is hard won. We should be self-reliant and through our efforts, China will rise", said Zeng Xianchao, Leader of Shicheng Power Supply Emergency Repair Service Team of State Grid Nanjing Power Supply Company.

The Nanjing Massacre took place when Japanese troops captured the city on Dec 13, 1937. Over six weeks, they killed more than 300,000 Chinese civilians and unarmed soldiers in one of the most barbaric episodes of World War II.
