Dec. 13, 2022, is the 9th National Memorial Day for Nanjing Massacre Victims. To mark the 85th anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre, China holds its ninth national memorial ceremony for the Nanjing Massacre victims.
南京大屠杀死难者国家公祭仪式在侵华日军南京大屠杀遇难同胞纪念馆举行。伴随着防空警报响起,南京全城鸣笛默哀,时间仿佛凝固。
The ceremony was held at the Memorial hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders in Nanjing. Despite the winter chill, thousands of people attended the ceremony in Nanjing, east China's Jiangsu Province, with white flowers pinned to their chests conveying condolences. In front of the crowd, China's national flag flew at half-mast.
上午10时01分,防空警报声响彻南京上空,这一刻,路上车辆停驶,驾驶员鸣笛志哀,路口,交警们脱帽肃立,低头默哀,表情肃穆,行人原地伫立,低头默哀,沉重的气氛弥漫在空气中。
At 10:01 a.m., sirens began to blare and the city came to a halt. Drivers in the downtown area stopped their cars and sounded their horns, while pedestrians paused for a minute of silence in remembrance of the victims.
悼念仪式中,解放军向南京大屠杀死难者敬献花圈。随后各界代表撞响和平钟并放飞和平鸽,中学生齐声朗诵《和平宣言》,“继往开来,永志不忘”!
Teenagers read out a declaration calling for peace and citizen representatives struck the Bell of Peace. White doves, symbolizing hope for peace, were released to fly over the square of the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders.
