Some 100 workers have given up the chance to go home and reunite with their families so as to speed up the construction of intercity railway by working overtime during the spring festival.
Viewed from the air, the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou Railway under construction is like a long dragon. Piers stand on the water, connecting Yuandang and the surrounding lake water system.
On the ground, a project site composed of several large foundation pits is under intense construction. In the future, the new Suzhou South Railway Station will become the junction of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou Railway, the Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo Railway and the inter-city railway of the water town tourism line.
Zhang Shouzhuo, the project manager, has hardly left the construction site since he came to Suzhou from Henan since the project started last July.
Because of the simultaneous construction of multiple projects, more than 200 clearing vehicles are needed for earthwork excavation every day. Zhang Shouzhuo must confirm the safety of vehicles, personnel and construction. Before the end of the month, he must always pay attention to the completion of piling and underground space by the construction team.
Zhang Shouzhuo, Deputy Manager of Intercity Railway Project Department of water town tourism line of China Railway 14th Bureau，said that they have divided about 40 teams for construction. During the Spring Festival, 23 rotary drills will speed up the piling and drilling of piles on the site so as to provide a working surface for the construction of other links after the Spring Festival.
Zhang Xuedong, Rotary excavator operator, said that when drilling this hole, the deviation must be controlled within one thousandth, otherwise its verticality will be affected. If the verticality is not good, it will affect the foundation on the ground. For the foundation with a depth of more than 120 meters, they have to spend 17 or 18 hours, that is, one day shift plus one night shift, working in a cycle.
Zhang Xuedong, 28, from Bozhou, Anhui Province, is a technical worker in drilling and piling. Zhang Xuedong can only spend this Spring Festival on the construction site, which is also his first Spring Festival after becoming a father.
During the Spring Festival, more than 100 construction workers are expected to work overtime at the construction site of Suzhou South Railway Station and surrounding railway construction projects.
