According to the statistics of the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, more than half of the deaths and nearly 70% of the major accidents are caused by car accidents during the Spring Festival Games in the past two years.
The road conditions in rural areas are complex. Trucks, tractors and tricycles are found to carry passengers illegally, and vans are found to be overloaded with passengers, leading to mass casualties. According to statistics, in the past two years, the number of deaths and major traffic accidents in rural areas accounted for 60% of the total.
