East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major investment projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to fulfill goals for social and economic development. JSBC has the story.
On Monday, at the construction site of the Chongming-Qidong Yangtze River Bridge on the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu high-speed railway, a steel casing with a length of 51.4 meters, a diameter of 2.8 meters and a weight of 78.6 tons slowly sank into the bottom of the river, indicating the start of the construction of the two main piers.
"The steel casing is for the use of bored piles in the future. The pile driver can drive about 6 piles a day. We want to get out the substructure before the flood season, and prepare to finish the whole substructure bored piles by July." Yang Hairong, Production Manager of Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-speed Railway Division I of China Railway Bridge Bureau said.
As a key control project of the entire Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu high-speed railway line, the Chongming-Qidong highway and railway Yangtze River Bridge, which has a main span of 400 meters, is currently the world's largest span ballastless track highway and railway dual-use cable-stayed bridge.
"In the future, the high-speed train does not need to slow down but directly passes at the speed of 350 kilometers per hour when it passes the north side of the Yangtze River. This standard is the highest in the railway bridges across the Yangtze River." Xu Qili, Director of Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-speed Railway Project Management Department of China Railway Bridge Bureau said.
At the construction site of Yangzhou River Diversion Bridge, the workers are stepping up the pile foundation construction with the concrete mixing plant, reinforcement processing plant and laboratory put into use.
"We will keep the momentum of starting as soon as we go on the stage, working hard when we got started so as to finish the construction of the North Yangtze River high-speed railway as soon as possible." Wang Xu, Secretary of North Yangtze River High-speed Railway Division I of China Railway Construction and Bridge Bureau said.
The Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu high-speed railway is of great significance in promoting the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and building a comprehensive three-dimensional transportation corridor along the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
