Xu Kunlin, governor of Jiangsu Province, urged on Thursday to strengthen the ecological protection of the Yangtze River, thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important statement on promoting the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the important instructions for the work in Jiangsu. He made the remarks when going on an inspection tour on the Nanjing section of the Yangtze River.
Embarking on a boat ride from Jiangxinzhou Wharf, Xu Kunlin inspected the progress on the Yangtze River pollution prevention and control, relocation of enterprises, water source protection, green shipping development, and smart port construction.
Xu Kunlin requested that similar problems and related and derivative problems should be actively investigated and rectified, the root cause and root cause should be addressed, and the ecological protection should be constantly strengthened so as to solidly promote the "4+1" project for pollution control, the "10-year fishing ban in the Yangtze River, and the treatment of sewage outlets into the Yangtze River so as to continuously improve the ecological service function of rivers and lakes and the protection and restoration of the Yangtze River for new results.
Governor called for greater efforts to accelerate the construction of a modern industrial system, adjust and optimize the industrial layout, promote the high-end, intelligent and green development of industries along the Yangtze River, promote high-quality development with high-level protection, consolidate the effectiveness of water source environmental remediation, comprehensively strengthen management, monitoring, inspection and law enforcement, comply with the new trend of green, low-carbon and intelligent shipping industry, improve the shipping collection and distribution system, improve the level of intelligent and intensive development of shipping, and better serve the country to build a new development pattern.
Located at the intersection of the Yangtze River, Jiajiang River and Qinhuai New River, Yuzui Wetland Park is a leisure place for people to enjoy the scenery of the Yangtze River.
Xu Kunlin urged efforts to give full play to the function of wetlands, strengthen the protection of biodiversity, create a green space close to nature for people, and better display the realistic picture of harmonious coexistence between human and nature.
When visiting Bagua Island, the third largest island of the Yangtze River, Xu Kunlin asked the local government to strengthen the system planning, consolidate the hard-won ecological restoration achievements, comprehensively promote rural revitalization, broaden the channels for farmers to increase income and become rich, and carve out a path of ecological priority and green development.
When inspecting the Mufushan-Yanziji Yangtze River shoreline, the governor asked the local government to make good use of landscape resources and industrial relics, integrate the resources of the whole basin with the help of digital means, and fully display the beauty of ecological civilization, history and culture, and the spirit of the times of the Yangtze River at home and abroad.
