As the core area of the national artificial intelligence (AI) innovative development pilot zone that Suzhou has been building since 2021, SIP has seen thriving development of AI technology and related businesses.
SIP has thus far gathered more than 1,300 enterprises engaged in the AI sector, and the total output value of these enterprises exceeded RMB80 billion last year.
Over 500 enterprises have taken part in R&D projects initiated under national strategies and those aimed at developing cutting-edge AI technologies, and these enterprises have set up a variety of innovation platforms for this purpose.
Additionally, the IT+BT Integrated Innovation Center has come into operation in SIP, currently with 19 projects focusing on integration of information technology (IT) and biotechnology (BT).
So far, SIP has seen 71 lists of AI application scenarios released and 16 events held to match demand for and supply of AI solutions. The events have enhanced the ties between AI developers, investors and users.
For example, Zelos (Suzhou) Intelligent Technology Co Ltd, a startup engaged in automatic driving technology, has established partnerships with Meituan, Pinduoduo, SF Express and China Post to cooperate in delivery services.
SIP has instituted a series of policies and established special funds to give AI enterprises a leg up in their growth, and made great efforts to introduce R&D organizations, industrial innovation platforms and talents. It also hosts various events on a regular basis to facilitate exchanges and cooperation between enterprises, research institutes and investment organizations. These efforts are fueling a bigger AI boom in the area.
