Xin Changxing, Secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, met on Thursday in Nanjing with Jiangsu-based academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Sciences. Among the top leaders attending the symposium were Xu Kunlin, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor and Deng Xiuming, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee. Xu Kunlin delivered a speech at the symposium.
Academicians believed that Jiangsu is backed up by its solid industrial foundation, rich science and education resources, and good innovation ecology, which would certainly play a greater role in achieving high-level science and technology self-reliance and building a world science and technology power.
The academicians put forward insights on topics such as deepening basic research, training young scientific and technological talents, promoting seed industry innovation, development and layout of digital economy, inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine, etc.
Xin Changxing said that all academicians are highly respected and knowledgeable, adding that from the academicians' speeches, we can really feel the deep feelings of home and country, the lofty spiritual realm, the broad scientific perspective, and the persistent pursuit of faith. He said we are deeply encouraged and inspired and the provincial party committee and provincial government express their heartfelt thanks for the academicians' important contributions.
The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee said that we will always adhere to the principle that science and technology is the primary productive force, talent is the primary resource, and innovation is the primary motive force. To make a difference in basic research, we must make a difference in tackling key core technologies, and in disruptive innovation. We should strive to become an important source of breakthrough of China's original innovation so as to constantly open up new tracks in new areas of development, and shape new momentum and new advantages of development.
He hoped that the Jiangsu-based academicians would vigorously carry forward the spirit of scientists, aim at the world's scientific and technological frontier, lead the direction of scientific and technological development, closely combine national needs with the director of Jiangsu, help Jiangsu plan innovative layout, promote more breakthrough and transformation of original achievements, introduce and cultivate more high-level innovative talents, and jointly promote the new practice of Chinese path to modernization in Jiangsu.
