The president, who represents Jiangsu province as a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress, told his fellow deputies from the province during a deliberation on Sunday that the nation must accelerate steps to attain a high level of self-reliance in science and technology, a requirement for promoting high-quality growth. When participating in a joint group meeting with national political advisers from the China National Democratic Construction Association and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed that the Party Central Committee has always regarded private enterprises and private entrepreneurs as its own people, reiterated and clarified a series of support measures, and guided private enterprises and private entrepreneurs to eliminate their worries, lay down their burdens and develop boldly.
