Tuesday marks the 11th International Forest Day, and this year's theme is "Forest and Health". Through continuous afforestation and greening of China's land, China has continuously increased its forest area and improved its forest quality, making it the fastest growing country with the largest forest resources in the world.
Currently, China has a forest area of 3.465 billion mu, including 1.314 billion mu of preserved artificial forests, ranking first in the world.
The country has taken strong measures to adhere to the systematic governance of mountains, rivers, fields, lakes, grass, and sand, and scientifically carried out large-scale land greening actions. Long-term and large-scale control of desertification has not only beautified China's mountains, rivers, land, towns, and villages, but also made important contributions to increasing global forest resources.
The National Forestry and Grass Administration is currently organizing the preparation of the "Three Year Action Plan for Scientific Development of Large-Scale Land Greening", which specifies the goals and tasks of the land greening action for 2023-2025.
According to the action plan, from 2023 to 2025, China will ensure that 100 million mu of land will be afforested annually, and that no less than 20 million mu of artificial afforestation will be achieved.
Based on the evaluation of the suitability of afforestation and greening space, it is important to seek space for general shrubby forest land, sparse forest land, suitable forest grassland, saline and sandy land, and strive to increase afforestation space by no less than 200 million mu.
