The 6th Suzhou Jinji Lake Biennale kicked off in Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) on Apr. 15. Zhang Jianhua, chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Jin Jie, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and director of the Publicity Department, and Shen Mi, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and secretary of the Party Working Committee of SIP, attended the opening ceremony.
This year’s biennale will last until June 25. With the theme of “Vivid Jiangnan Charming Suzhou”, the 70-day event features 3 theme exhibitions, 1 academic forum and 20 parallel exhibitions, coupled with about 300 sideline activities.
As the largest fine art exhibition in Suzhou in recent years, the biennale has attracted more than 100 artists from 17 countries, i.e. China, Britain, France, Belgium, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Germany, Czech Republic, Israel, Venezuela, Cameroon, Italy, the United States, the Netherlands and Japan. More than 2,000 works are on display.
As one of SIP’s major cultural events, the Suzhou Jinji Lake Biennale is held every two years. Since its inception in May, 2012, it has exhibited more than 5,000 pieces of works and attracted over 1,500 artists and 20 million visitors in total.
