In the first quarter, 7239 water conservancy projects were launched nationwide, an increase of 1948 from the same period of last year, the ministry of water resources said recently.
189.8 billion yuan was invested in water conservancy construction, up 76.2% year-on-year. The country has accelerated the construction of a number of major water conservancy projects, including the middle line project of the South to North Water Diversion Project and the second phase of the Huai River estuary. The construction of water conservancy projects employs 700000 people nationwide, including 510000 rural laborers. In the next step, the Ministry of Water Resources will strengthen the preliminary work of the 66 major water conservancy projects that will be promoted this year, accelerate the construction of the national water network, and focus on improving the efficiency of the water infrastructure network.
