Jiangsu's industrial use of electricity increased by 7.5% year-on-year in March, showcasing the strong momentum of the province's economic vitality, according to the statistics released by the Jiangsu Power Company.
Jiangsu reported a year-on-year increase of 1.7% in electricity use in the first quarter, up 7.8 percentage points from January to February.
In March, Jiangsu recorded a year-on-year increase of 6.9% in electricity use, including a 19.3% increase in electricity use in the primary industry and a 7.4% increase in electricity use in the secondary industry.
The strong recovery of accommodation, catering, and cultural tourism has stimulated a year-on-year growth of 16.6% in electricity use in the tertiary industry.
Industrial use of electricity can best reflect the level of industrial production and operation prosperity. In March, Jiangsu recorded 42.80 billion kilowatt hours of industrial electricity use, up 7.5% year-on-year.
Among the 13 prefecture level cities, 11 recorded a growth rate of over 5.0% in industrial electricity consumption. Lianyungang and Huai'an achieved year-on-year growth rates of 70.3% and 19.6% respectively.
The development of Jiangsu's industrial manufacturing industry is characterized by high-end, intelligent, and green development. In the first quarter, Jiangsu continued to expand the scale of the new energy industry chain by expanding industry capacity, as is evidenced by the rapid growth momentum in electricity use.
In March, Jiangsu recorded 35.61 billion kilowatt hours of electricity use in the manufacturing industry, up 9.2% year-on-year.
