Government departments in east China's Jiangsu province released relevant data and cases to introduce positive progress in protecting intellectual property rights on the occasion of the 23rd World Intellectual Property Day.
Jiangsu launched a copyright promotion week in Yangzhou on Tuesday. The Provincial Copyright Bureau announced the top ten typical cases of the province's crackdown on copyright infringement and piracy in 2022 with the cases covering audiovisual, book, and educational aids.
On Tuesday, the Nanjing People's Procuratorate and the Nanjing Railway Transport Procuratorate jointly launched the centralized destruction of infringing intellectual property products and the Open Day of the Procuratorate.
"We adhere to strict crackdown on infringement and counterfeiting of food, drugs, infant and young child products, pesticides, seeds, and fertilizers. For the principal offender, we generally do not impose a suspended sentence and impose the strictest fine. We hope to use this opportunity to deter illegal and criminal activities that infringe on intellectual property rights, and to create a sense of respect for intellectual property rights and protection of innovation in society," said Wang Xiaoxiao, First Class Prosecutor of Nanjing Railway Transport Procuratorate.
In recent years, Jiangsu has stepped up its efforts in copyright law enforcement and supervision by continuously maintaining a high-pressure trend in cracking down on infringement and piracy. According to latest statistics, in 2022, courts across the province tried a total of 37021 intellectual property cases and concluded 32518, with a year-on-year increase of 3.19% and 10.45%, respectively.
Judging from trial effectiveness, continuous improvement has been made in the quality and efficiency indicators such as the rate of serving judgments, interest litigation, and the ratio of cases settled.
