The calm of the countryside comes as a relief from the hustle and bustle of the city. Here are some recommended hiking trails in Suzhou. Pick one and enjoy leisure time with your family and friends during the holiday.

Lingbai Route

The famous "Lingbai Route" starts from Lingyan Mountain, passes Dajiao Mountain and Yangchang Mountain, and ends at Baimajian Scenic Area. The route is about 10 kilometers long and estimated to take 4.5 hours.Located in the northwest of Mudu Town, Lingyan Mountain is 182 meters high, and owns a number of historic sites, such as Wuwang Well and Wanyue Pond. The five kinds of vegetarian noodles sold at Lingyanshan Temple are worth a try.

Baimajian Scenic Area covers an area of 1.5 square kilometers and is the green lung of SND.

Qionglong Mountain

With a height of 341.7 meters, Qionglong Mountain is the highest mountain on the east shore of Taihu Lake. It is covered in lush green vegetation and has been well-known since ancient times.

The hiking trail starts from Shangjing Village, passes Jinji Mountain, Xiaowang Mountain, Wanniao Park, Yuezhi Mountain and Wanghu Park, and reaches the north gate of Qionglong Mountain.

The vegetarian noodles of Ningbang Ancient Temple at the top of the mountain is quite famous. Wanghuyuan Restaurant and Sunwuyuan Teahouse are also recommended and there are over 20 special restaurants scattered at the foot of the mountain.

Qizi Mountain

Qizi Mountain, which literally translates as "Seven-son Mountain", got its name from the seven burial mounds on its top. The 294.6-meter-high mountain is covered in dense vegetation and blessed with picturesque scenery.

Its hiking route, which opened last year, begins from Qian's Residence, passes a number of scenic spots, reaches Qianyuan Temple at the top of Qizi Mountain and ends at Forest Fire Apartment.

The 8.35-kilometer-long route crosses Wangshan Villages and Zhangqiao Villages and takes about 4 hours.

Piaomiao Peak

Piaomiao Peak, which literally translates as "Misty Peak," is 336 meters high and has streams running across the area all year long.

The hiking trail is relatively difficult, with the first half crossing the forest and the second half passing through ancient villages and docks. It ends at Pinglong Mountain, where you can appreciate the views of Taihu Lake and visit Yuwang Temple.
