The city of Nanjing has made every effort to pool the wisdom of overseas talents so as to comprehensively promote the new practice of Chinese path to modernization in Nanjing.
At the Berkeley-Nanjing Research Center in Jiangbei New District of Nanjing, Hang Bo, an internationally renowned biomedical expert, has led his team to carry out scientific research on aerogel adsorption materials and transformation.
Supported by the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute, the latest achievement of this new material for environmental purification will break through the shortcomings of traditional activated carbon materials in adsorption capacity, directional adsorption, and is expected to be applied in fields such as environmental pollutant treatment in the near future, making it the first original innovation achievement from the laboratory to the market since the establishment of the center in 2018.
“We are the first in the world to use aerogel to study how to achieve the adsorption of pollutants in the gaseous field. I left Nanjing to study in the United States and did a lot of work on environmental pollution and the biological effects of pollutants. Now I have returned to Nanjing to engage in research and achievement transformation of technology and new materials, which has been a very successful process for me,” said Hang Bo, Professor in charge of the Berkeley-Nanjing Research Center.
At the Second Jiangsu Development Conference in 2019, Dr. Zhang Shouting, who has been engaged in bilateral scientific and technological resource docking between Northern Europe and China for a long time, learned that Nanjing has laid emphasis on scientific and technological innovation. He collaborated with the local government to establish an overseas talent innovation station in Jiangning District and has since then introduced innovative resources and talents for Nanjing.
“We have collaborated with the Finnish Investment Promotion Agency and the Danish Innovation Center to jointly promote cross-border roadshows and biopharmaceutical and digital healthcare industry cooperation conferences. We have obtained a business license for a project aimed at treating Alzheimer's disease,” said Dr. Zhang Shouting, Executive Chairman of the Nordic Sustainable Development Association.
“My hometown Nanjing has achieved many breakthrough achievements in the field of biomedicine. I hope to work together with domestic enterprises to transform mature foreign experience and technology into a cause that benefits the country and the people, and to help the takeoff of our country and the development of our hometown,”said Xu Shangjin, Nanjing-born Senior Software Engineer Ph.D. from Norway.
