East China’s Jiangsu province reported smooth progress in the transplanting of rice seedlings by giving full play to the high tech and mechanized methods. Let’s take a close look.
In a family farm in Duntou Town of Hai'an county, two sets of rice transplanters equipped with Beidou navigation were seen shuttling in the fields to transplant the seedlings.
The head of the farm said that they had put into operation 8 rice transplanters, including 4 equipped with Beidou navigation system. Each transplanter can plant about 60 mu of rice seedlings every day.
It is expected that the farm will complete the planting of 2080 mu of rice within a week.
“Rice transplanter is equipped with Beidou navigation system, which has greatly reduced the labor intensity of the drivers.”, Xun Yunjin, a mechanic in a farm in Nantong, said.
Various regions in Jiangsu are rushing to seize the opportunity to accelerate the planting of rice seedlings during the summer farming season by giving full play to various mechanized and intelligent planting technologies. The family farms in Gaogang District of Taizhou have adopted folding and darkening technologies to raise seedlings to make the seedlings sprout neatly and have a high rate of emergence, which has saved the seedling pool, and improved the capacity of seedling supply.
At an unmanned farm in Yanjiaqiao of Wuxi city, 10 agricultural teams from all over the country were engaged in an intelligent rice transplanting competition, showcasing and improving the role of mechanization, digitization, and intelligence of modern agriculture.
“The intelligent rice transplanter has a high operating accuracy that can be controlled within the range of plus or minus 2.5 cm, so that it can promote the production of crops”, Chen Buzhong, Representative of an enterprise in the competition, said.
In response to the relatively low rainfall in the first half of the year, water conservancy departments in various regions have implemented targeted policies by scientifically adjusting water supply to ensure the smooth progress of summer planting.
Since late May, the water conservancy department of Suyu District in Suqian City has reserved sufficient water sources for trunk canals and branch canals, and at the same time provided centralized water supply to remote villages and towns and water-consuming areas to ensure the balanced planting of 450000 mu of rice in the whole district.
On Monday, water conservancy departments in the county level city of Jurong carried out water lifting operations in the wake of the county’s issuance of a drought resistance level IV warning.
“At present, we are seizing the opportunity of high-water levels in the Yangtze River, and 9 units are operating 24/7 to lift water to the Beishan Reservoir, ensuring the supply of water to the canals in the eastern regions by recording a daily lifting capacity of about 400000 cubic meters”, Qi Benping, Station Master of the Yangtze River Water Lifting Station in Jurong City, said.
