East China’s Jiangsu province reported 5.3% year-on-year growth in industrial use of electricity, indicating gradual recovery of consumption and accelerated industrial production. JSBC has the story.
Statistics show that in the first half of the year, Jiangsu recorded electricity consumption of 360 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 5.3%. The manufacturing industry's electricity consumption reached 207.9 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 5.5%, 6.6 percentage points higher from last year.
In the first half of the year, Jiangsu's new energy and related industries enjoyed a strong development momentum. The power consumption for photovoltaic equipment and component manufacturing increased by 72.1% year on year, the power consumption for new energy vehicle and automobile manufacturing increased by 47.8% year on year, and the electricity consumption for the manufacturing of wind energy primary equipment increased by 30.2% year-on-year.
In the first half of the year, double-digit growth in electricity consumption was recorded in high-end manufacturing industries represented by urban rail transit equipment manufacturing, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing, aviation, spacecraft, and equipment manufacturing industries, significantly higher than the growth rate of traditional high energy consuming industries, indicating that the province’s manufacturing industry is moving towards high-end and low-carbon with more obvious trend of transformation and upgrading.
