Wuxi goes all out to raise intl profile

Reputed as the "Pearl of the Taihu Lake" and cradle of the 3,000-year-old Wu culture, Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province has been exerting efforts to raise its international profile.

The city's image publicity is inseparable from platforms. At the Wuxi City Image International Communication Seminar held in the city on July 22, an alliance and platforms were unveiled to boost Wuxi's city image worldwide.

  7月22日,由江苏省政府新闻办指导,无锡市委宣传部、无锡市政府新闻办、中国日报网主办,中国日报网无锡公司承办的“打造世界看中国的标志性窗口”无锡城市形象国际传播研讨会在无锡举行。

Among them is the Wuxi International Communication Alliance, which consists of news agencies, universities, private businesses, among others that are keen to introduce the city to the world, including China Daily Multimedia Wuxi Co Ltd, Jiangnan University and Wuxi New Culture Research Institute.

These members are expected to tell Wuxi's stories by arranging and participating in online and on-site activities, showcasing the city's opening-up efforts, splendid culture and pioneering spirit.

Du Yichao, head of the Wuxi New Culture Research Institute, said that he was excited about the alliance's establishment and that his team has always been dedicated to making innovations on Wuxi culture and recommending them to international friends.

Another inaugurated platform is China Storyteller Partnerships Wuxi Branch, which was set up by China Daily Multimedia Wuxi Co Ltd.

The Wuxi branch encourages more international friends to tell Wuxi's stories and China's stories, showing a real, three-dimensional and comprehensive China. It will also train expat influencers and offer them professional guidance in brand creation, platform operation and hot topic marketing.

Wuxi International Publicity Matrix, established by China Daily and Wuxi Municipal Government, owns more than 20 websites and international social media pages with more than 2 million followers combined and over 180 million views.

Since this year, the international publicity matrix has been publishing nearly 20 articles and posts per day with about 200,000 views and 10,000 interactions.

Wang Hao, deputy editor-in-chief of China Daily, believes that Wuxi boasts a bright prospect in international communication and will become a base of China Daily's innovative international communication efforts.

He noted that Wuxi is blessed with rich resources for publicity, such as scenic landscapes, profound culture and high technologies.

Two other platforms, IP Wuxi Platform and Wuxi International Communication Integrated Media Center, also made debut at the event to promote Wuxi's city image around the world.
