Wuxi to build two provincial-level forest footpaths

Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province plans to build two provincial-level forest footpaths this year, according to the Wuxi municipal bureau of natural resources and planning.

"We hope to create a 7.3-kilometer provincial-level forest footpath on Shizi and Changyao mountains in Yangshan town," said deputy Party secretary of Yangshan town.

He added that there are vast stretches of peach orchards to the south of Shizi Mountain and the plan is to to build viewing platforms for visitors to admire their blossoms in spring.

The footpath is expected to connect the entire Yangshan scenic area and the four mountains Dayang, Xiaoyang, Shizi, and Changyao, according to the deputy Party secretary.

Cuiping Mountain forest footpath extends 9.2 km and passes by Jiaoshan, Cuiping, Jilong, and Hongshan mountains with seven entrances and exits. Hikers can climb Jiaoshan Mountain at sunrise and visit the bamboo forest on Hongshan Mountain at sunset.

Since 2021, Jiangsu has created 36 provincial-level forest footpaths provincewide, including those on Taihua Mountain, Huishan Mountain, and Dongban Mountain in Wuxi.

The province will take about five years to establish more than 100 forest footpaths with a combined length of over 500 km.
