Taicang city of east China’s Jiangsu province and Zhouzhi County of northwest China’s Shaanxi province have achieved progress in the country’s East-West poverty alleviation project since both sides were twinned in 2017.
Lying to the south of the Qinling Mountains and north of the Weihe River and endowed with fertile soil and abundant rainfall, Zhouzhi is one of the best areas for the growth of kiwi fruit.
At present, it is a critical period before kiwifruit ripens. In the plantation, under the lush vines, green and astringent kiwifruit trees hung all over the branches.
“This is the kiwi fragrance, and standard picking day for kiwi fragrance is September 18th when the sugar content can reach 11% to 12%”, Li Tao, Deputy Director of Kiwi Industry Integration Development Center, Zhouzhi County, Shaanxi province, said.
Zhouzhi County, the largest demonstration base of kiwi industry in China, has developed a number of fine varieties. Since 2017, Taicang has invested 27.75 million yuan in provincial-level cooperation funds between Jiangsu and Shaanxi, supporting 31 upstream and downstream kiwi industry projects, and promoting the development of the industry towards clusters.
Last year, Taicang allocated an additional 5 million yuan of support funds to support the construction of Zhouzhi County Kiwi Industry Integration Development Demonstration Park and promote local farmers to increase their income and become rich.
In addition to high-quality development of specialty industries, promoting employment is also an important measure to ensure people's livelihoods.
The Taicang-Zhouzhi Human Resources Market, a collaborative construction project for poverty alleviation labor services between Jiangsu and Shaanxi, has organized 11 online and offline recruitment activities by recommending more than 200 employment enterprises in Jiangsu and other eastern provinces, and providing over 8000 job vacancies.
“Job seekers can enter a mini program to complete their resume. When Taicang-based companies goes online, the mini program will generate a QR code. When the job seeker scans the QR code, clicks on the interview registration and submits the resume, they just need to wait for notification”, Zhang Liping, Staff of Human Resources Market in Zhouzhi County, Shaanxi Province, said.
The Taizhou Innovation Industrial Park, jointly built by Taicang and Zhouzhi, has attracted 26 enterprises and played an increasingly significant role in stabilizing growth and promoting employment.
“According to the poverty alleviation cooperation between Jiangsu and Shaanxi, the industrial park is committed to providing employment opportunities. Enterprises settling in the park enjoy various preferential policies provided by the high-tech zone”, Ren Hui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Jixian Industrial Park, Zhouzhi County, said.
