In the first half of the year, Jiangsu recorded a record high in the number and volume of the operation of China-Europe freight trains. Let’s take a close look.
According to data from Nanjing Customs, from January to June, Jiangsu operated 1095 China-Europe freight trains, a year-on-year increase of 7.8%, achieving 54.75% of the annual task target. The number of return trains has increased by over 20% year-on-year, indicating an increasingly balanced two-way transportation.
In the first half of this year, Jiangsu recorded an export of 16.2 billion yuan to “the Belt and Road” countries through China-Europe freight trains, up 16% year on year.
In recent years, China-EU freight trains have increasingly shown the important role of logistics channels in safeguarding foreign trade, especially the import and export to countries along "the Belt and Road".
Various departments across the province have focused on helping foreign trade enterprises smooth logistics and reduce costs, taking multiple measures to optimize services so as to have provided important support for the stable operation of China-Europe freight trains.
Lianyungang has achieved rapid transfer of goods from trains to sea vessels through the "direct pick-up from ship stations" mode, steadily improving the efficiency of customs clearance operations. Suzhou has launched the "railway express" business model, reducing the overall operating time by 1-2 days. Wuxi has launched a "continuation train", which has saved local enterprises 20% of transportation costs and increased the efficiency by 30%, providing strong support for maintaining stability and improving quality in foreign trade.
