East China’s Jiangsu province recorded a total import and export value of 2.93 trillion yuan from January to July, accounting for 12.4% of the national total, the Nanjing Customs said recently.
From January to July, Jiangsu continued to increase its import and export to the Belt and Road countries with a total value of 853.92 billion yuan, up 4%, accounting for 3 percentage points higher than the same period last year. Jiangsu's imports and exports to Latin America and Africa increased by 2% and 5% respectively.
Private enterprises have recorded significant growth in imports and exports. From January to July, private enterprises in Jiangsu recorded imports and exports of 1.28 trillion yuan, an increase of 4.4%, accounting for an increase of 4.6 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
Foreign invested enterprises and state-owned enterprises in Jiangsu recorded imports and exports of 1.39 trillion yuan and 255.9 billion yuan, respectively.
The province’s exports of mobile phones, automotive parts, and ships have significantly increased. From January to July, Jiangsu recorded an export of 1.27 trillion yuan in mechanical and electrical products, a decrease of 2.5%, accounting for 67.2% of the total export value of the same period last year. The province recorded a growth rate of 31.6%, 17.7%, and 43.8% for mobile phones, automotive parts, and ships, respectively. The exports of solar cells, lithium-ion batteries, and electric passenger vehicles increased by 0.5%, 51.4%, and 408.5%.
The import of bulk commodities such as soybeans and crude oil has significantly increased. From January to July, Jiangsu recorded 68.89 billion yuan in consumer goods import, an increase of 5.6%. Soybeans, crude oil, copper, and pulp reported a year-on-year increase by 22.9%, 179.5%, 0.1%, and 36.6% respectively.
