The 2023 China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization International Logistics Roundtable Conference was held in Lianyungang on Thursday afternoon. The participants reached broad consensus on cooperation in areas such as transportation and logistics, foreign trade, and digital economy.
The theme of this meeting was "Strengthening internal cooperation within the SCO and jointly building a new Eurasian land sea intermodal transport channel". Representatives of SCO member states, observer states, and dialogue partner countries discussed the current situation and prospects of expanding multilateral transportation and logistics cooperation under the SCO framework.
“Logistics is the foundation and condition of economic development. Without the smooth flow of logistics, economic prosperity will be impossible. Today, we have reached a broad consensus here, and the next step is to put these consensuses into action. During the meeting, we saw the positive contribution made by Lianyungang in building a shared sea port for SCO member states, which is very important”, Sohail Khan, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, said.
In 2019 and 2021, Lianyungang held two sessions of the SCO International Roundtable Conference, establishing a good platform for communication and exchange with SCO member countries.
Statistics show that the main logistics indicators of the Lianyungang International Logistics Park of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization have maintained a continuous high growth rate. From January to July, the logistics park recorded a logistics volume of 39053300 tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.07%, and a container volume of 31480300 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 82.16%.
