East China’s Jiangsu province reported accelerated recovery of consumer goods market from January to July with the constant emergence of first stores, small stores, and new consumption scenarios, which have stimulated strong growth in domestic demand. JSBC has the story.

At Xinjiekou, the retail center of Nanjing, thanks to promotional activities such as "70 yuan per gram reduction", "60 yuan per gram reduction", and "85% off for the entire venue", shopping malls witnessed customers flocking to the gold and jewelry counters. According to the salespersons, on the eve of the "Qixi Festival", the number of consumers buying gold ornaments has increased significantly.

“Qixi Festival is a festival with a sense of ceremony. There is a large number of visitors. Young couples buy gold jewelry to commemorate this romantic festival. Some people buy gold jewelry for marriage or engagement, so gold jewelry is sold well”, a salesperson said.

In order to enhance market vitality and continue to promote consumption, Jiangsu has attracted the participation of over 100 thousand businesses by launching more than 3200 promotions and distributed over 410-million-yuan worth of consumption vouchers and digital RMB red envelopes since the start of this year.

“We have issued promotional vouchers, allowing consumers to choose their preferred products for both retail and catering. With our vouchers, we hope to provide citizens and customers with more choices”, Lei Jing, Operations Director of Xuzhou Vanke Xinhuai Center, said.

In July, Jiangsu sold 1810 cultural performances through the internet, with a recorded audience of 204 thousand, generating a direct box office revenue of 127 million yuan and stimulating nearly 97 million yuan in cultural and tourism consumption such as transportation, accommodation, and catering.

At the Nanjing Omnijoi Blue Ocean International Cinema, the films released during the summer season involve various types of life, love, and parent-child topics, meeting the needs of people of different ages and educational levels.

“Compared with last year, the box office of Jiangsu Omnijoi Blue Ocean's direct outlets increased by 80%, surpassing the overall box office growth of Jiangsu. The ticket revenue of the 8-day event alone reached 34 million yuan, and the related products of the event were also sold out.

Small and trendy sports such as hiking, rock climbing, cycling, and ice and snow sports have met with growing popularity. More new sports consumption scenes provide consumers with novel and healthy consumption experiences, and also inject new vitality into the province’s consumption growth.
