Universities across Jiangsu province have ushered in the fall semester by receiving a large flow of freshmen on their campuses.
Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications welcomed over 9000 2023 undergraduate and graduate students on Friday. Each college applied unique elements to help new students understand the university so as to clarify their goals, and adapt to university life. Through the puzzle gifts designed and produced by senior students, the freshmen have gained a preliminary understanding of the university’s culture such as the school motto, landmarks, and history.
“In my future university life, I will pay special attention to the technology and development related to the Internet of Things, hoping to provide my own contribution to the relevant research of the country”, Qian Wanqi, a freshman of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, said.
Undergraduate freshmen from Nanjing University of Technology opened a pocket laboratory and saw a development board filled with circuit ports. This development board can combine 37 peripheral devices such as temperature and humidity, sound detection, heartbeat detection, infrared obstacle avoidance, and ultrasonic ranging to complete numerous functions such as industrial control and IoT monitoring.
“Our original intention in creating a pocket laboratory was to enhance students' innovation and entrepreneurship abilities and engineering practical abilities. With this kit, the students can conduct some experiments in their dormitories”, Zhang Yinqiang, Associate Professor, School of Electrical Engineering and Control Science, Nanjing University of Technology, said.
Hohai University welcomed 5572 undergraduate students by providing a one-stop service for new students to register, distributing scholarships, gift packages, textbooks, and a lot more.
China Pharmaceutical University held an opening ceremony, and Professor Liu Yu, a doctoral supervisor of the School of Life Sciences and Technology, was awarded a prize of 200000 yuan.
“I hope that our students can cultivate innovative abilities from now on, so that when you enter the pharmaceutical industry in the future, you can make innovative drugs instead of following others step by step”, Liu Yu, Professor at the Chinese College of Pharmacy, said.
