East China’s Jiangsu province is expecting a tourism upsurge during the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day holidays that will last eight days from September 29 to October 6.
Train tickets to destinations including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Nanjing have fallen short of supply, according to Ctrip, a popular online tourism service provider.
The number of air ticket bookings to popular cities has gone beyond that of the same period in 2019 by 20%, and there is a five-fold increase in hotel bookings from the same period in 2019. Popular room types for vacation hotels and homestays in some popular tourist destinations have been sold out.
“The proportion of inter-provincial travel orders reached 73%, an increase of 10 percentage points from 2022. Nearly 20% of the customers choose to stay for 3 days or more in a row. The popular destinations for long-haul travel include northwest region suitable for autumn tours, such as Burqin, Urumqi, Lanzhou, and Dunhuang, and cities in southern China such as Sanya, Guangzhou, and Xiamen,” Yang Zhanwang, Regional head of public affairs for Ctrip, told the reporter.
The 8-day long holiday has provided favorable conditions for the popularity of long-haul travel. A travel agency in Jiangsu has reported a nearly 20-fold increase in overall outbound travel orders from last year, which directly leads to a surge in outbound travel growth.
“In the past week, the volume of Internet search for overseas flight destinations has doubled from last week. The most popular overseas destinations include Bangkok, Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore,” said Liu Ting, Senior Manager of the Public Affairs Department of Qunar.com.
Jiangsu has got ready for the launch of a colorful cultural and tourism feast for the two holidays. Huai'an will launch a cultural and tourism carnival by organizing 41 exciting cultural and tourism activities. Yangzhou will launch 14 high-quality route products, including the Seven Rivers and Eight Islands Music Festival, urban stroll tours, rural leisure tours, and parent-child study tours. The Changshu Autumn Shopping Festival will stimulate shopping consumption and help accelerate the recovery of the cultural and tourism market.
