Xin Changxing, Secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, urged Jiangsu to make every effort to promote the path of green, low-carbon, and high-quality development. He made the remarks when going on an inspection tour from Sunday to Tuesday in Sheyang, Binhai and Xiangshui.
Yancheng, where the three counties are located, nurtures the largest coastal wetland on the western coast of the Pacific and the edge of the Asian continent, making it an important habitat for migratory birds on the global migration pathway.
Xin Changxing conducted on-site investigations on the protection, breeding, and domestication of the red-crowned crane, the introduction, breeding, and domestication of the crested ibis, as well as bird monitoring and migratory bird migration.
Noting that protecting biodiversity is to protect our common home, Xin Changxing said we must continue to strengthen ecological protection, scientific research, expand the population of rare birds, and provide a comfortable home for migratory birds.
When inspecting the mudflat wetland in Sheyang, Xin Changxing learned about the situation of saline alkali land improvement and afforestation, forestry carbon sink, popular science education, tourism development and asked the local government to strengthen the protection of wetland authenticity and integrity and promote sustainable development.
He pointed out that Yancheng has forests, wetlands, and oceans, which are precious treasures bestowed by nature, making it necessary to hold the Global Coastal Forum at a high level, and take the lead and make demonstration in building a modern and harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
During his inspection tour to the Binhai Port Area and Xiangshui Port Area to learn about the overall plan of Yancheng Port, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee requested further efforts to accelerate the transformation and development of ports along the Yangtze River and Yellow Sea, improve the energy level of inland trunk waterways, strengthen the joint transportation of highways and railways, continuously improve the level of intelligent, green, safe, and efficient development, and attract more high-quality projects.
Xin changxing inspected CNOOC's "Green Energy Port" in Yancheng to understand the planning, project investment, construction and operation of the coastal comprehensive energy base, as well as the exploration of cold energy utilization.
Noting that it is necessary to accelerate the construction of a new energy system so as to promote carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, Xin Changxing hoped that CNOOC can give full play to its advantages of full industrial chain, deepen strategic cooperation with Jiangsu, and jointly build an important hub for comprehensive green and clean energy supply so as to make greater contributions to ensuring national energy security.
During his visit to the Findreams Battery Co., Ltd., Xin Changxing inspected the workshop and laboratory to understand technological innovation and industrial support, watched battery safety performance experiments, conducted in-depth discussions with technical personnel around battery recycling and utilization and encouraged the company to continue to step up its efforts, increase investment, and actively seize new fields and tracks.
The CPC provincial chief also inspected the construction site of the Zhangjiahe River Sluice in the second phase of the Huaihe River estuary project, inspected the progress of the project construction, and requested the local government to adhere to high standards and high-quality promotion of project construction.
When inspecting the Xinyang Farm of Jiangsu Agricultural Reclamation Group, Xin Changxing, the CPC provincial secretary listened to the overall development of Jiangsu Agricultural Reclamation, and learned about the breeding of new crop varieties, yield benefits, agricultural mechanization, and high standard farmland construction. He encouraged the Provincial Agricultural Reclamation Group to promote excellent traditions, forge ahead with reform and innovation, build a modern agricultural base, and play a leading and supporting role in advancing agricultural modernization in Jiangsu.
Xin Changxing also visited the site of the Xiangshui County chemical plant blast that took place on March 21 in the north Jiangsu.
He asked relevant departments to bear in mind the General Secretary's important instructions on production safety, make reflections on the lessons learned from the chemical plant blast in Xiangshui four years ago, re-examine the rectification of production safety in the province, and make further promotion of ensuring production safety on the new journey.
