The 2023 TV Festival of Shanghai Cooperation Organization States (SCO) raised its curtain Tuesday in Nanjing, capital city of east China’s Jiangsu province. Li Shulei, member of the Politburo and Minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, delivered a video address. Cao Shumin, Vice Minister of the Central Propaganda Department and Director of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, and Xu Kunlin, Governor of Jiangsu Province, delivered speeches.
Cao Shumin stated in her speech that hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organization National Television Festival is an important measure to implement President Xi Jinping's important initiative and the consensus reached between the heads of state of the SCO countries.
She said the Chinese government has attached great importance to the important role of broadcasting, television, and online audiovisual media in inheriting excellent culture, promoting economic development, and maintaining social harmony by getting actively engaged in multi-level and multi-form exchanges and cooperation with broadcasting and television institutions from various countries.
Cao remarked that China will strengthen policy dialogue in the audiovisual field with SCO countries, expand content cooperation, expand personnel exchanges, promote industrial development, and make greater contributions to building a closer community with a shared future for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Xu Kunlin said in his speech that cultural exchanges are the basis for deepening cooperation. This year marks the tenth anniversary of "the Belt and Road" initiative. Jiangsu will actively implement the global civilization initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping by adhering to the combination of "going out" and "bringing in", further deepening cultural mutual learning, industrial cooperation, and technical exchanges with SCO countries so as to constantly create new audio-visual business models, and jointly improve innovation and creativity.
Zhang Ming, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, hoped that the TV Festival of Shanghai Cooperation Organization States would play a greater role in witnessing the development of the SCO, promoting the true dissemination of information, and promoting closer ties between people of the SCO countries.
Guests from home and abroad shared the consensus that as an important component of the SCO's people-to-people exchange, the cooperation in radio, television and audiovisual media plays an important role in enhancing the strength of the "SCO family" in terms of good-neighbor relationship, unity and mutual trust, and promoting mutual learning between civilizations.
In recent years, in accordance with the important consensus reached between Chinese President Xi Jinping and leaders of the SCO countries, China has actively engaged in exchanges and cooperation with SCO countries so as to have cemented the cultural ties between the SCO countries and promoted mutual understanding and affinity among people of the respective countries.
The participants at the TV Festival expressed their willingness to work together to promote the "Shanghai Spirit", deepen the exchanges and cooperation, and create excellent audio-visual works so as to continue with the efforts to tell the story of SCO friendship to people of the respective countries, spread the call for peaceful development in the era, consolidate the foundation of friendly cooperation among the people, and contribute media strength to promoting the construction of a closer community with a shared future for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Jointly sponsored by the State Administration of Radio and Television, the People's Government of Jiangsu Province, the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the 2023 TV Festival of Shanghai Cooperation Organization States is organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Radio and Television Administration and the Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation.
About 150 guests from government departments and media institutions of broadcasting, television, and audiovisual media of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization states showed up at the TV Festival.
With the theme of "Strengthening Audiovisual Cooperation and Promoting Shared Development", the TV Festival held themed dialogues, radio,television and audiovisual technology exhibition in addition to releasing the Cooperation Initiative on Comprehensively Deepening Audiovisual Cooperation and Promoting Shared Development. The exhibition of audio-visual works from SCO states will be on display from September to December.
