The 2023 World Internet of Things Expo concluded on Tuesday in Wuxi with the signing of a number of key industrial projects and major innovation platforms, injecting new momentum into Wuxi's efforts to build a world-class IoT industry cluster.
During this World Expo, 53 major projects were launched in Wuxi to bring a total cooperation amount of nearly 108 billion yuan, including 4 foreign investment projects, 2 projects worth over 10 billion yuan, and 10 projects worth between 5 billion yuan and 10 billion yuan. These projects include Wuxi Internet of Vehicles Industrial Park and China Unicom Yangtze River Delta Optoelectronic Communication Industrial Park.
In the meantime, a number of major scientific and technological innovation platforms such as the "Wuxi Artificial Intelligence Collaborative Innovation Center" and the "Wuxi New City Computing Power Center" were unveiled for settlement in Wuxi, further enhancing the core competitiveness of Wuxi's IoT industry and better empowering the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry.
“After completing the digital transformation, every manufacturing enterprise will inevitably generate a large amount of data to complete this new industrialization. The computing industry plays a very important role in the new industrialization. Wuxi can do a good job in the new urban computing power center and serve the new industrialization,” said Wang Jian, Academician of the CAE Member.
Many well-known overseas enterprises such as Microsoft, Siemens, Fanuc participated in the exhibition, and international high-end conferences such as the International Conference on Electrical and Electronic Engineers' Communication Technology and the China Europe Internet of Things Industry Cooperation Conference were held on the sidelines of the expo.
Wuxi has also strengthened its collaboration with other international exhibitions in the field of the Internet of Things, initiating a "dual exhibition linkage" cooperation between the IoT Expo and the IoT exhibition in Barcelona, Spain, to further expand Wuxi's IoT overseas "circle of friends".
“Wuxi and Barcelona have now become sister cities, and we can work together to change the knowledge system about the industrial Internet of Things, share and disseminate more knowledge and information. At the same time, it is an opportunity for both sides, a good opportunity for Spain to attract local enterprises to invest in China, and also for China to explore more business opportunities,” said Mark Tarrago, President of the World IoT Solutions Conference in Barcelona, Spain.
Since 2010, the World Internet of Things Expo has been held in Wuxi for 14 consecutive years, witnessing the rapid rise of the Wuxi Internet of Things industry. In 2022, Wuxi recorded a revenue of 93.45 billion yuan in the core industry of the Internet of Things, promoting the output of related industries to exceed 400 billion yuan, accounting for nearly 50% of the province's proportion and ranking among the top in the country.
As of now, more than 3000 IoT enterprises in Wuxi have employed over 200000 people. This year's IoT Expo will once again introduce new resources and inject new momentum into Wuxi's efforts to build a world-class IoT industrial cluster.
