More people have applied for the provincial innovation and entrepreneurship plan by demonstrating their projects with better quality, according to a defense meeting held in Nanjing on Sunday. Let’s take a close look.
Since the implementation of this year's innovation and entrepreneurship plan in July, Jiangsu has seen a growth of 50% in the number of applicants year-on-year. 1234 people and 175 entrepreneurial and innovative teams were shortlisted for defense. 96.7% of the applicants come from enterprises, and 92% are urgently-needed talents in strategic emerging industries.
Many applicants demonstrated new technologies in key areas. Yang Guangtao from Trina Solar explored the optimization and research of key technologies for solar cells, effectively promoting cost saving and efficiency enhancement of solar cells. Chen Boyi from Jiangsu Qingyun New Materials Technology Company brought high-strength special new material "Kunlun", successfully breaking through the "bottleneck" technology and the foreign monopoly on flash spinning technology over the past fifty years.
Yang Guangtao, Deputy Director of Trina Solar R&D Center, said:“Our current battery efficiency can reach over 25% in mass production. After improving efficiency, compared with current costs, we will have a cost reduction of over 0.2 yuan per watt”.

In this year's provincial entrepreneurship and innovation plan. Jiangsu has prioritized integrated circuits, biopharmaceuticals, and artificial intelligence as key support areas with improving quality of applied projects, and optimizing support structure for entrepreneurship and innovation doctoral programs. The review process has placed emphasis on market orientation and better direction towards local and industry development needs.
