East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major investment projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to fulfill goals for social and economic development. JSBC has the story.
The provincial government held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of branch transportation channel of the inland waterways in Huai'an City on Monday with a view to promoting the acceleration of industrial development.
The Huai'an Mojian River Waterway Improvement Project will strongly support the development of high-end heavy equipment, new building materials, new materials, and grain and oil deep processing industries.
Since the beginning of this year, the transportation departments at all levels in Jiangsu have accelerated the connection of trunk waterways into a network, improved the navigation capacity of waterways, improved the efficiency of interaction between trunk and branch waterways, promoted the connection of branch waterways to industrial parks, and ensured efficient water transportation services.
The northern branch channel of the Chongming-Qidong Highway and Railway Yangtze River Bridge at the mouth of the Yangtze River is a control project of the Shanghai-Hefei high-speed railway. The construction workers are busy draining the river water from the steel cofferdam of the main pier.
“We poured the concrete for the steel cofferdam bottom sealing of the main piers 3 and 4 of the bridge in early December. Currently, we are pumping water from the steel cofferdam to carry out the steel casing cutting and pile head breaking process, ensuring the completion of the first layer of concrete pouring for the main pier 3 and 4 bearing platforms before the Spring Festival of 2024,” said Zhang Guo, Chief Engineer of Section 1 Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-speed Railway of China Railway Bridge Bureau.
In the second phase of the Huai River estuary waterway project, a landmark and strategic project of the flood control engineering system in the Huai River Basin, workers are carrying out precast block construction for embankment protection slopes in the Yancheng section of the 6.3-kilometer Huai River estuary waterway project.
“In order to strive for the fulfillment of the annual tasks, our project department has invested a total of 150 excavators, 300 dump trucks, and 500 workers to fully promote project construction. At the same time, we have prepared winter protection equipment for workers in response to cold wave weather, strengthened construction site insulation facilities, strictly controlled the temperature of construction materials, and strive to complete the project by the end of December,” said Peng Hai, Project Manager of Yancheng Section II of Huai River Estuary Phase II Project.
