The Yangtze River Delta Advanced Materials Industry Innovation and Development Conference was held in Suzhou on Thursday. Governor Xu Kunlin delivered a video speech. Among the leaders attending the opening ceremony were Liu Xiaotao, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee, Zhao Yan, Vice Governor of Jiangsu, and Qi Rang, Executive Vice President of the China Association of Senior Scientists and Technologists.
Noting that new materials have become a key area to seize the technological highland, Xu Kunlin said Jiangsu has insisted on making new materials a strategic emerging industry, gathering innovative resources, and making every effort to build a domestically leading high-end new materials industry cluster with comprehensive strength.
He remarked that Jiangsu will focus on building an industrial technology innovation center with global influence, focusing on national strategic needs, promoting the high-end, green, intelligent, and clustered development of the new materials industry, accelerating the formation of new quality productive forces, strengthening core technology research, conducting organized and systematic scientific research, and striving to achieve major original breakthroughs in the field of advanced materials.
The Governor demanded further efforts to strengthen the agglomeration of innovation resources, give full play to the advantages of opening-up and innovation, enhance the clustering effect of innovation entities and resource elements, create a stronger technological core, strengthen the application of scientific and technological achievements, deepen the technology innovation system with enterprises as the main body, market orientation, and step up the integration of industry, academia, and research, promote the construction of innovation ecology, strengthen the introduction and cultivation of high-level talents, and focus on building an innovation highland and talent highland in the field of new materials.
Liu Xiaotao said Suzhou will make every effort to provide service guarantees, create a first-class industrial innovation ecosystem, actively promote cross-regional innovation collaboration, strongly support academicians and experts to carry out deep cooperation with research institutes and enterprises, strengthen the role of enterprises as the main body of innovation, promote the construction of more cutting-edge technologies, and promote the landing of major projects and top talents.
He hoped that the Advanced Materials Research Institute of the Yangtze River Delta can better play a leading and driving role, and make greater contributions to the integration of innovation chain and industrial chain for the formation of new quality productivity.
Among the keynote speakers were Gan Yong, president of the Yangtze River Delta Advanced Materials Research Institute, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Xu Nanping, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
The opening ceremony witnessed the inauguration of the Yangtze River Delta Innovation Alliance for Materials Science and the Yangtze River Delta Innovation Alliance for Key Materials Laboratories, as well as the signing of "crowdfunding cooperation" scientific research projects, enterprise joint laboratories, and enterprise strategic cooperation projects.
