President Xi’s New Year message hailed by people in Jiangsu
People in east China’s Jiangsu province hailed the New Year message delivered by President Xi Jinping on Sunday to ring in 2024. President Xi Jinping vowed to comprehensively deepen reform and opening-up, enhance economic vitality and steadfastly advance the Chinese modernization in 2024.
President Xi Jinping voiced his confidence in the nation's development and reiterated the importance of global cooperation for a better world.
Looking back, Xi said that the year 2023 saw China's economy weather the storm and become "more resilient and dynamic than before".
He spoke highly of the country's progress in technological innovation, citing the commercial service of the C919 large passenger airliner, the trial voyage of the first Chinese-built large cruise ship, the Shenzhou spaceships that are continuing their missions in space, and the deep-sea manned submersible Fendouzhe that reached the deepest ocean trench.
“Everybody has made extraordinary contributions. President Xi's New Year's greetings have deeply touched and inspired me. I have been delivering takeout in Changzhou for seven or eight years, with sweat and regret, but also laughter and harvest. We bought our new house, and this year our family of three can move in. In 2024, I am full of hope. I believe that under the leadership of the Party and Chairman Xi, our days will surely become more prosperous, and our dreams of life will come true with a happy mood,” said Li Yuanyuan, a courier deliveryman in Changzhou.
“After listening to Chairman Xi's New Year's message, I was very excited and encouraged. In 2023, I was fortunate enough to be a member of the 24th Graduate Teaching Support Team of Nanjing University by getting rooted in the grassroots of West China, and contributed my own youthful strength to education assistance and rural revitalization. In the new year, I will remember the instructions to forge ahead, give full play to my professional advantages, always combine personal development with the future and destiny of the country and the nation, and strive to write the youth stories of Nanjing University students in the new era,” said He Juan, a Master's student from the School of Government Management at Nanjing University.
President Xi said that his heart is always with those in need, including people having difficulty finding jobs and meeting basic needs, and those suffering from natural disasters. He gave credit to people from all walks of life for their contributions to the nation's development.
Speaking about the developments to take place in the New Year, Xi said that efforts will be made to consolidate and strengthen the momentum of economic recovery and achieve steady and long-term economic growth.
“President Xi asked us to unswervingly promote the Chinese path to modernization and promote science and technology with greater efforts. Last year, we developed more than 10 green and low-carbon products, becoming the fourth domestic steel enterprise to supply cable steel for long-span bridges. This year, we will continue to develop high-tech products with high added value. Through the completion and commissioning of low-carbon and high-precision transformation projects, we will introduce new processes and technologies, as well as energy-saving and environmentally friendly new equipment so as to continue to promote high-quality development,” said Chen Yuanqing, Director of the Technical Center of Yonggang Group.
“President Xi said in his New Year's message that the Yangtze River Economic Belt is becoming more vigorous, which is a great encouragement for us. The fish guardian is made up of volunteers, and we will continue to be the guardians of the Yangtze River ecosystem in the new year,” said Hua Qingfu, Captain of the Fish Guarding Team in Heping Road Sub-district, Runzhou District, Zhenjiang.
“In his New Year message, President Xi spoke highly of our hard work and dedication. As the successor of Wang Jie, we must always bear in mind the President’s instructions, focus on practical needs, practice our skills, and achieve better results so as to welcome the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China with practical actions,” said Huang Long, Head of the "Wang Jie Squad" , 71st Army Group.
